All over the globe, millions of CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) gadgets are strategically placed to record our surroundings, and constantly monitor our movements, most often, unaware of being observed.

In an effort to explore the prevalence of surveillance cameras in our daily lives, the art project 'Closed-Circuit' proposes an inversion: investigate our surroundings and capture the situations in which those devices are inserted. This endeavor aims to unveil the omnipresence of surveillance while critically examining how these devices discreetly integrate into the contemporary landscape, constantly encroaching and collecting information on our privacy.

Collaborative Circuit

Closed-Circuit project is a not-for-profit initiative, coordinated by Marcelo Schellini and Yukie Hori, two Brazilian artists who are currently based in Asia, Malaysia and Japan, respectively. Together they have envisaged a project that seeks the collaboration of worldwide visual artists in order to cluster a larger variety of images from diverse places and socio-cultural contexts.

The ultimate objective of 'Closed-Circuit' is to serve as a platform to foster the creation of thought-provoking artworks, providing them visibility through multiple forms, which can include exhibitions, publications, symposiums, and other artistic and educational activities.
